Creative Block
It's a mighty and sturdy wall.
OCTOBER 2025 EDITION
{Tuesday 14th of October 2025}
That one wall we eventually hit as creatives. Be it writing, art, music — anything that has to do with creative thinking, we will eventually hit that road. It may not be as harrowing as people’s creative blocks are, but it is frustrating to hit that block. It’s a tall wall, thick and takes a while to knock down, maybe a few days, months or in some cases… years.
With a creative block, you are aware when it hits you, it’s a familiar feeling. One of the common ways to tackle such blocks is to give yourself time to bounce back, which is true and works for a reason, hence it’s a generic solution. But what then, after you give yourself time and that period of “self-patience”, takes a long time to bounce back? You can feel the guilt in giving yourself time for inspiration to flow — that “click”. The patience you give yourself is a dread because days turn into weeks, into months, and into years… just to wait for some “click” to happen.
So what do I say to a creative block? Screw it and put something — anything down. Be it just a few words for your book, an audio of your thoughts for a song you can’t make, a weird-shaped lump of clay for your next pottery session, a splash of colour on a canvas for when you can’t think of the next thing to paint.
“In moments of crisis, one is never fighting against an external, but always against one’s own body”
Part One, Chapter VIII of Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.
Why should we give ourselves more than enough time to bounce back when we know it’s doing more harm than good? Sometimes we just have to “screw the mood and follow the plan.” And be more than prepared to do it wacky just to reignite your flame again.
Roots, it’s always the roots.
What were the first things that encouraged you to even begin your creative journey? (Your creative journey can be professional or a hobby.) What were those things that pushed you to do something on your own? Was it music, a person, an image, a place or even a promise to your future self? Did you imagine yourself in higher places? What would happen if you started backtracking now? Would it slow down the pace of chasing your goals and dreams?
What have you done till now?
Personally, when I hit a creative block, I shy away from reading my previous works because I feel too “ashamed” to read them when I was booming with vision. However, recently, I told myself to give it a try and just read one or two of my works, and I’ve never been so proud of myself that I wrote that. If I could do it before, why can’t I do it again? Why can’t I even surpass that? Thus, I encourage you to go back to that piece of work you were most proud of and remember that feeling.
Remember where you are coming from and where you are going to.
Why did you start this journey? Where did you start from? Have you not seen how much you’ve improved? No matter how small of success you’ve made, it is of great significance. When you remember your purpose, your reason for ever trying to reach your goal, that motive can rekindle your spark. You ought to remind yourselves that “you cannot stop now”. This obstacle in front of you is not going to make you forget your raison d’être.
Creative blocks aren’t just negative; they can be signals telling you that you’re about to expand your creative horizon. And, you’re going to flourish more than ever before. We should never view our past as the best times of our lives; we must look forward, and we must be better than our yesteryears. We are our greatest strength.

— I didn’t even bother with my regular intro, lol.
Can you tell I just experienced a creative block 😐? I was literally going insane because I couldn’t think of anything. I decided not to overthink it and just freaking write anything. Sometimes it is best not to second-guess yourself and just start. Also, much love to everyone who recently subscribed. I couldn’t face opening my blogs social accounts and to my surprise… I’ve gained double the amount I had last time I logged in. Thanks again, darlings!! 🫂
Oh! And I am currently reading Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell (that’s why theres a quote from it). During my creative block, I took up reading, which was a plan I had delayed for over a year. So that block really did bring something good out of it. Including 1984, I have read 4 books so far :)! That’s an achievement!! 👍🏽
